The ship we sailed on left Paris in the evening making it's way up the Seine. We awoke the next morning, to views like the one above, out our cabin window.
We had arrived at a little town called Les Andelys. Famous for the Chateau-Gaillard, Richard the Lionheart's stronghold.
The Chateau sits high above the village.
We hiked up the hill to spend some time at the Chateau, which is in ruins now.
On the way up, we came across an area that is a community garden. I wonder if Mr. Comforts of Home can weave a raised bed for me like this one?
A view of the village roof tops on the way up the hill.
As we headed back to the ship, I stopped to take a picture of this beautiful pair of swans. I was amazed the whole two weeks on the river cruise at how many swans I saw.
The morning had started out with a foggy mist. But by noon as we set sail, the fog lifted and the skies were so clear. We had a chance to see local parasailers flying off the white cliffs.
I love this shot above. The sky was so blue against the yellow sail...and the jet flying by in the background shows two types of aviation.
Welcome Home,
Penny
