Birds of a Feather...Look Great On A Wall!

The living room wall art grouping is finished!  Some of you asked how we were planning on hanging them, so they would be level, straight and perfect.  So here is a Step By Step on how we did it.

You all ready know that I laid out the design on the floor first.
Then, Mr Comforts of Home (who is an engineer) did the calculations.
I dislike math...it gives me a head ache.  Thankfully, Mr. Comforts of Home loves figuring these things out.

Next, he got his laser level out.  See the red laser line on the wall?

Then he started marking the nail spots based on his figures.  Then he started, by hanging the top row all the way across.

Then the second row from the top, all the way across.
Finally we moved the TV back into place and then we hung the pictures on the two sides of the TV.  Here is is all finished.

I wanted to remind you of how this room started out, almost one year ago.  We closed on this house Aug. 28, 2009.  This is how it looked then.
The next picture is how it looked yesterday before we added the vintage bird prints.

An now, another shot of how it looks today.

Another view from the great room.

I like the way the vintage botanical prints in the great room look good with the vintage bird prints in the living room.

Now, the cost.  I bought the frames (18 total) from Michael's.  They were 50% off.  They included a mat. I paid $4.99 each.  Total cost of frames including tax $96.00.  The vintage prints came out of a vintage Audubon book I got on EBay.  It paid about $12.00 for it.  It has over 400 bird prints.  So basically the prints cost about 22 cents each.  So for about $100, I have a beautiful art wall.

The TV doesn't really disappear...but it does blend in a little now.  Besides, now when commercials are on, I have something pretty to look at!
