Fun-day Sunday at G.G.'s house

Sunday, we were having the family all over to our house for dinner and we came up with the idea of making terrariums with all the kids. We got all the supplies, set up a couple tables in the yard and let the kids go to town. It was so fun and they all turned out adorable. (Martha Stewart gives good directions and a how-to video here).

I love the way each childs' terrarium shows a little bit of their personality in it...

I highly recommend making terrariums with any age group of kids. The two year olds to the twelve year olds (and even the adults) loved it.

The rest of the afternoon was spent doing the usual family gathering activities. Sipping wine in the grass, kids playing on the trampoline or in the tree house, lounging around the yard...

wrestling...

being goofy...

and just hanging out with family...

Since the kitchen is currently out of commission and the guest house kitchen is not exactly equipped for a big group, we decided to do grilled pizzas and let each person make their own. The kids rolled, stretched and tossed their own dough. We threw it on the grill for a few minutes, then gave it back to them, they added toppings and then we put it back on the grill to finish it up. I have to say, we have some fabulous little pizza chefs on our hands over here.

And what better way to end this hands on, do-it-yourself kind of day, then with an ice cream sundae bar. The kids came up with some very interesting combinations, to say the least. I guess that's what happens when you put out a whole selection of toppings - they can't help but try a little bit of everything! I do have to say, it was a wonderful, family-filled day!

Did you do anything fun this weekend?
