laurie's charming cottage

After the idea of sharing pictures of my friend Laurie's home came to me the other day, I knew I had to follow through.  Her lovely little beach cottage is only a few houses down from mine on the island and it is a constant inspiration.  She is truly one of those people with a natural talent for design.  Every inch of her home is just perfect.  She pays attention to every corner, every little detail.  It is one of those homes that is completely stunning and simultaneously welcoming, where you feel right at home.  She also happens to be an artist, so she has a totally inspirational little studio space upstairs.  I am sure you are going to love Laurie's home as much as I do!  So, here you go...

Thanks, Laurie for letting us share!

happy new year!

We headed back to the beach again for the New Year and had a lovely time. Relaxing and fun. Just what we needed. Lots of walks, coffee, wine, games and a few dance parties to round off the festivities. All in all a great way to ring in the new year...

Happy, happy new year to everyone!
DId anyone do anything especially fantastic? Do share...

A Little Break for Me

My friend Christie over at A Lemon Squeezy Home is going to have a purse challenge contest on October 4th through the 8th. She asked me to be one of her judges for this challenge and I excitedly accepted it! Please head over to her blog and see all the details and great prizes she has. It will be fun!

Well, you all read about my crazy car situation last week. While we were down to one car I was the full time chauffeur for my family. In the morning I took them to work and school, I have one child that needs to be picked up midday, and the other two at few hours later and my husband at later still and they are two cities away...

It is crazy, but I did it. I did it with a pretty good attitude, because I had something I was looking forward to. Girls weekend getaway!!

My friends and I went to Vegas for the weekend. It was so much fun! When you hear "Vegas" you might think crazy parties, something we need to leave behind...

NOPE, not us! It was lots of shopping, eating, talking and laughing. Very clean healthy fun. :)

Here are some pictures that I took...

Oh...this was so good. More food came after this, but I was busy eating and forgot to take pictures of them.

I love taking picture of architecural designs and such for my design inspirations...(at a buffe, food and culture, two bird and one stone!)

Amy Butlerish(is that even a word?) carpet.

Also, we went to a HUGE swap meat. It was held outside in very hot weather. Near the end I thought I was going to pass out from heat exhaustion. Although, I found some great stuff, and here are my most favorite items.

The purplish pink necklace is all handmade and I bought it for only $5! I love the uniqueness of it, and I know it will be great addition to my fall outfits. I also found a vendor who was selling leathers (in this picture, this brown background you are looking at is the leather). I wanted to buy some leather for quite a while to use for my basket makeovers. I was so excited!! I will be using this leather soon.

It was a great getaway! The funny thing is though, I was never completely "AWAY". I guess once you become a mother, your heart is always attached to your loved ones no matter where you go.

Now I feel rejuvinated and good to go! I am back in to my routine and I rediscovered that I am happiest here with my family and I am such a lucky girl to have a husband who care about me enough that he will let me go for a weekend to take a break. :)

good friends.

Do you have one of those friends who you casually invite to come over for pizza with the family and she offers to bring some sort of appetizer and then shows up with this...

My mouth literally fell open when Laurie walked in with this beautiful display. I mean, seriously? You just whipped that up? You hardly want to touch it, it looks so perfect.
Do beware, however, once we get over the beauty, the Burch family can destroy a cheese board...

And what about one of those friends who can just tell when you are having a bad day and suddenly shows up with a little homemade gift just for you...

Lucky me, I have just such friends. Their kindness and generosity, creativity and talent never cease to amaze me. I am on the road with these two amazing ladies right now on a little summer adventure through Georgia. One car, a GPS, three friends and the open road... should make for some good stories. I hope...

I have a few little posts set for next week and the following week we have some very exciting guest bloggers! I can't wait!
After that, I am sure I will have quite a bit to share from our road trip. Have a great weekend and I will be back in a couple of weeks!
